What makes StaplesOnline.com Silk and Luxuries the best silk product on the market?
They stretch. They stay. They are comfortable and healthy. staplesonline.com knit silk underwear and sleepwear is cut to fit and flatter men and women. They do not add bulk and clothes slip off the silk for a smooth neat look. Knit silk is fine, durable, light and has 75% stretch, which means that 10 cm (4") will stretch to 17.5 cm (6 1/2"). This silk is both warm to wear in cool temperatures and cool in hot temperatures.

Does silk "breathe"?
Unlike cotton, which retains moisture, silk is hygienically superior. Silk allows your skin to breathe easily. It naturally wicks any moisture away from the skin to keep it dry. Your doctor will agree. It is this same drying quality that makes them GREAT to travel with.

What size should I take?
Please do not cheat yourself here. Who cares what size the label says as long as you are comfortable. Please take the size chart with a grain of salt, as personal preference combined with so much stretch in the knit silk will dictate your choice. When you hold them up, they may look big. Be sure to think of them in the round, not flat. You may even want to try more than one size. Some people prefer to have some loose items for sleepwear and snug items for daywear.

Do they shrink?
No, but being knit, they do contract when washed. They will always stretch back to fit when worn.

How should they be washed?
Do not use laundry detergents, as their harsh ingredients will break down the silk and destroy the smooth feeling. We recommend using hand soap or even shampoo. Hand washing is best, but they can certainly be machine washed in warm water with other delicates or in a lingerie bag. Hang them to dry which spares the elastic from the heat of the dryer. They dry very quickly, which also makes them great for traveling. When rinsed in a hotel sink, they are bone dry and ready to go by morning without any extra fuss. Silk wants to be dry and it is this phenomena that keeps a woman healthy and comfortable.

Does the colour run?
A cold-water dye process is used, perfectly suited for silk, with an environment-friendly white vinegar fixative, so the fabric itself never loses colour. We recommend washing like colours together to be extra sure. It is possible to find a trace of neutralized dye (which means it will not adhere to anything else) in between the threads, so you may want to rinse before wearing the first time.

How long do they last?
With regular wear and sensible care, you should find them in your top drawer for a minimum of one year. In saying that many of our customers are still wearing their knit silk after 3 and 4 years.
